Kids and veggies: a perfect match?

Unlike other children his age, Nash Aguas has learned to love eating vegetables although he also
acknowledges to being selective in the past. “I’ve always eaten vegetables.
But before, I was very choosy. I only liked carrots, kangkong (water spinach)
and sitaw (string beans),he says.

Echoing a similar sentiment, Sharlene San Pedro also admits to having been quite particular when it comes to eating veggies. I only ate green, leafy ones such as broccoli and cabbage, she says.

Meanwhile, Aaron Junatas was slightly more typical in that, like most kids, he used to have a great aversion to the stuff. I didn't like
how they tasted,he explains.
Star-quality strategy

Cinneth Aguas, Nash's mother, admits to adding meat to her vegetable dishes as a way of encouraging her son to eat other kinds of vegetables. Sure enough, Nash started liking vegetables which he previously refused to eat, she says. You have to be resourceful and try to make veggies irresistible to kids.

Aaron's mom, Shalini Junatas, agrees with Mommy Cinneth's observation. A lot of children find vegetables boring, she adds. That's why you have to put in extra effort to make eating them more fun.

Sharing her friends opinion, Mylene San Pedro, Sharlene's mom, also observes that kids simply cannot resist the taste of meat it's like a kid magnet. Children are really drawn to it. They're even willing to try a vegetable dish if it incorporates the taste of meat.
